The secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili said Iran regards the security of Turkey as its own security. Speaking at a press conference at the Iranian Consulate in Istanbul yesterday, Jalili said, "Our relationship with Turkey is based on friendship and brotherhood. We regard the security of Turkey as our country's security." Jalili added that the Turkish-Iranian border should always be in peace and called on countries in the region to unite their powers. Emphasizing the powerful strategic alliance between Turkey, Iraq and Iran, Jalili noted that together they would use their entire capacity for unity and integrity in the region. Jalili also stated that Iran's policy on Syria was apparent, noting that the only solution for the war-torn country was possible through democracy and general elections.
