Sabiha Gokcen named as world's fastest growing airport

Airports Council International (ACI) has been named Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport as world’s fastest growing airport. According to the ACI’s World Airport Traffic Report 2010, Sabiha Gokcen Airport had a 26 percent rise in passengers to a total of 7,889,829 according to 6,278,923 passenger in the first seven months of 2010. ACI Report ranked the airport as the world’s fastest growing airport among 1,300 airports in 157 countries around the world. The report suggests that traffic at Sabiha Gokcen Airport jumped by 75 percent last year. Brazil’s Campinas Airport placed second on the list, while an airport in South America’s Rio de Janeiro came in third. Forty-seven airliners launch flights to 68 international and 27 domestic destinations from Sabiha Gokcen Airport.
