MGK discusses recent cross-border op against terrorist PKK
The National Security Council (MGK), chaired by President Abdullah Gul, yesterday convened for nearly six hours. The results of Turkey's recent cross-border operation against the terrorist PKK in northern Iraq were discussed at the meeting, according to a statement released afterwards. In the statement, the MGK reaffirmed its determination to maintain measures against the activities of the terrorist group and its supporters, which aim to harm public order, unity, solidarity, and peace and confidence. "The council also discussed recent developments in Iraq, and underlined the need to improve bilateral relations in such areas as economic and energy cooperation," said the statement. The MGK also discussed recent developments on Cyprus and the Armenian allegations concerning 1915. "In the face of Turkey's determination, such allegations will avail nothing," it added.
