A new Turkish documentary titled “Türk Pasaportu” (Turkish Passport) will be screened at this year’s Cannes film festival, which started on Wednesday.  Directed by Burak Arliel, the documentary recounts how during World War II, many Turkish diplomats put their lives in danger to provide passports and provisions to persecuted Jews to help them escape deportation and death in concentration camps in Europe and migrate by train to the safe haven that Turkey provided. The film will be having its Cannes gala on May 18.
