150 ambassadors to visit Izmir

Rifat Sait, an Izmir deputy from the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and a member of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Commission stated on Thursday that the Conference of Ambassadors which has been held for the last three years would be organized this year in the Aegean city of Izmir to host nearly 150 ambassadors on January 5, 6 and 7. Stating that heads of the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) and the Yunus Emre Institution are also expected to participate in the conference, Sait said, "We are planning to organize some activities in Izmir. I have already talked to our foreign minister as well. He suggested that we bring together Balkan Associations. He also said to me that he would like to participate in those meetings and invite the ambassadors from Balkan countries. I hope we will hold such a meeting." Sait added that Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Commission Volkan Bozkir and Committee members were already invited to the conference and that they planned to organize a Balkan night event on the sidelines of the conference as well.
