A publicity meeting was held yesterday at the Prime Minister's Office with regard to the 1st Child and Media Congress in Turkey to be organized on November 14-15 in Istanbul in cooperation with the Directorate General of Press and Information, the Supreme Board of Radio and Television (RTUK) and the Children's Foundation. Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said that the state does not wish to raise a generation of shy, socially incapable children. Stating that the 1st Child and Media Congress in Turkey would be organized in Istanbul on November 14-15, Arinc said, "It is impossible to close our eyes to television, and it isn't right to do so. Of course newspapers will be read, magazines too. We believe there are a lot of positive things that can be taken from those. We do not wish for shy, socially incapable children. Just as today, we wish for a youth that is moving, lively, brilliant and capable."
