"A new UN plan or maybe a Ban Ki-moon plan may come out," Turkey's Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said in a televised interview on Sunday, expressing hope that Turkey's EU membership negotiations could progress smoothly, once the Cyprus issue is resolved. "We hope to receive the Greek Cypriot negotiator for Cyprus dispute in Ankara soon and Athens will receive negotiator of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC)," Bagis said. Bagis also stressed that settlement in the Cyprus issue would provide Turkey with the opportunity of opening 12 chapters to discussion in its EU accession process and that Turkey was ready to fulfill the requirements for 10 of them shortly after the opening.
