A strategic visit by NATO's Savridis to Ankara

Admiral James Stavridis, NATO'S Supreme Allied Commander Europe, arrived in Ankara as part of a surprise visit yesterday evening. Stavridis is expected to make a series of contacts in Ankara, including a meeting with Chief of General Staff General Necdet Ozel and Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz. Such issues as developments in Syria, Turkish-Israeli relationships and the drilling work to be conducted by the Greek Cypriot administration in Mediterranean are to be discussed as part of his visit to Ankara.
