National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Undersecretary Hakan Fidan, who was absent at the weekend security summit chaired by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, reportedly was unable to attend because he was meeting with CIA officials in the US. Fidan is said to have traveled to the US late last week to speak with the CIA about closer cooperation and intelligence-sharing to fight the terrorist PKK, as well as foreign intelligence issues.
