Akdogan: People of Syria falls victim to global disputes
Speaking at the Workshop on Turkish-Jordanian Relations in the Perspective of Change and Transformation in Middle East, Political Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister and Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy from Ankara Yalcin Akdogan said, "The Middle East can no longer be a training field or a chess board for global powers, where they compete with one another." Akdogan stated that an understanding blended with "ignorance, primitiveness and violence" would not contribute to Islam. He said the issues concerning human life, primarily in Syria, should not fall victim to global disputes, adding, "With the international community turning a blind eye to the loss of hundreds and thousands of people in Syria, Syria falls victim to the wrangle among global powers. Main actors have started to influence the course of events as in the Cold War period. Putin has led Russia to become the main actor of the global system again. We hope that people in the region would decide their own future in line with their interests and welfare."
