Aliyev meets with top Turkish diplomats in Bakü

Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Ambassador Feridun Sinirlioglu and Ambassador Unal Cevikoz, the deputy undersecretary for the Caucasus and Central Asia, over the weekend visited Azeri President Ilham Aliyev and held talks with Azeri President Ilham Aliyev in Baku on recent developments in the Caucasus following telephone conversation between Aliyev and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Speaking to reporters ahead of their departure from Baku, Sinirlioglu said that they told Aliyev Turkey's views on both normalization efforts between Turkey and Armenia and the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In related news, Turkey is already preparing to take the helm of Europe's top human rights watchdog, the Council of Europe, in November 2010, for a six-month term.
