Aliyev receives French delegation

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Monday received a group of French senators who have appealed the French bill criminalizing denial of the so-called Armenian genocide at the Constitutional Court. During the visit, which was organized by Azerbaijan-France Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group Chairman Mehriban Aliyeva, Aliyev said that the bill which was voted at the French Senate was based on false information. Stating that the bill which distorts the facts is non-compliant with democracy and freedom of thought, Aliyev expressed hope that the bill will not come into force. Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Senator Nathalie Goulet, who is the deputy chairman of the France-Caucasus Friendship Group, head of the France-Azerbaijan Working Group and a member of the Centrist and Republican Union in the French Senate, said that they would exert efforts to develop relations between Azerbaijan and France and inform the public on their contacts in Azerbaijan.
