American-Turkish Council head and former US Ambassador James Holmes yesterday said that with its independent role and close relations with the European Union and NATO, Turkey could be a role model for the countries of the world. Holmes added that the US would be very pleased with Turkey's constructive mediating role with Iran. "Under the Obama administration, Turkish-US relations have taken a great positive turn," he said. "Behind the model partnership concept could lie the will to go beyond the strategic partnership which has been used for the last 20 years."
