Turkish officials are closely following developments after a US federal appeals court on Friday ruled that the descendants of Armenians killed in the last days of the Ottoman Empire can seek payment from companies that sold life insurance to their relatives. The Ninth US Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco said a California law labeling the killings as "genocide" doesn't conflict with US foreign policy, which the court said is unsettled on the issue. At the current stage, the case is not directly related to the Turkish government, the Anatolia news agency reported, citing diplomatic sources.
