Ankara and the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus (TRNC) are set to consult ahead of a tripartite meeting next month in Geneva bringing together TRNC President Dervis Eroglu and Greek Cypriot leader Dimitris Christofias, led by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Following tradition, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is set to pay his first visit abroad to the TRNC soon after Ankara's new government is formed following last weekend's general elections. If no government is formed before the July 7 meeting, Davutoglu is still likely to fly to Northern Cyprus to hold a round-table meeting with top TRNC leaders in order to coordinate policies ahead of the Geneva meeting, said diplomatic sources. Meanwhile, UN Special Envoy to Cyprus Alexander Downer recently told Ankara of his willingness to meet with Davutoglu ahead of the July 7 meeting.
