With its green and cool plateaus, Trabzon is becoming one of the favorite places of Arab tourists in Turkey. This year Turkey aims to increase the number of tourists coming from Arab peninsula to 100 thousand from 60 thousand, which is the last year's figure. Direct flights from Saudi Arabia to Trabzon have started on May 29th. In order to make the region an alternative tourism center, Trabzon Governor Recep Kizilcik said they were promoting Turkey in Arab countries. As for the tourism sector, the number of tourists is expected to increase since the start of direct flights. Turkish Association of Travel Agents (TURSAB) Black Sea regional executive board head Suat Gurkok said Arab tourists usually prefer the natural beauty and cool plateaus. The places mostly visited by Arab tourists include Uzungol, Sumela Monastery in Trabzon and Ayder plateau in Rize. On the other hand, according to a report released by General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre, about 400 Saudi and Iranian citizens have signed a contract to buy property in Trabzon.
