Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc yesterday attended the 7th International Ataturk Congress which was organized under the auspices of President Abdullah Gul and his Macedonian counterpart Georgi Ivanov in cooperation with the Ataturk Research Center and Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Skopje, Macedonia. Speaking at the Congress, Arinc said that it was impossible to easily find such a legendary commander like Ataturk who has fought at battlefields and a successful revolutionist who could have succeeded in establishing a modern republic in world politics. Arinc added that historians have also acknowledged Ataturk as one of rare leaders who have left their marks on the last few centuries. Arinc also congratulated those who have worked on the organization of such an important congress in the name of Ataturk, saying, "What distinguishes Ataturk from his contemporaries is that he's open to change and innovations. He could have succeeded in uniting opinions and actions within his character, maintained the change and transformation in his thoughts and realized them in his society." Arinc added that Ataturk has been a source of inspiration and hope and respected not only by Turkish people living in Turkey, but also by other states which are devoted to peace and independence.
