Arinc: "What will you do, if Erdogan denies genocide allegations in Paris?"
Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said yesterday the French bill criminalizing the rejection of Armenian allegations on 1915 incidents was being manipulated by French President Nicolas Sarkozy due to domestic political reasons. Speaking to reporters at a breakfast meeting in Bursa, Arinc said, "Let me ask a question which has been earlier posed by French dailies: What will you do, if Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan says the ‘incidents of 1915 do not constitute genocide' during his next trip to Paris, France? There are thousands of Turks, as well as thousands of French intellectuals who run the risk of saying this. We believe that this initiative, which merely aims to win the votes of Armenian Diaspora in the next presidential elections in France, will not be approved by the French Senate."
