Ataturk's family house in Macedonia to be turned into museum
Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) reconstructed the family house of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey, in Kocacik Village of Macedonia. The family house of Ataturk was built by his grandfather Kizil Hafiz Ahmed Efendi. The house is planned to be opened as a "Memorial House of Ali Riza Efendi" in the upcoming months by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The arrangement and furnishing of the house is performed in line with its original condition. Furthermore, sculptor Murat Daskin is set to build sculptures of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and his family. Two sculptures of Ataturk which are to be built will show Ataturk wearing a uniform of Monastir Military High School, when he was 17. One of the sculptures is going to be put in the memorial house and the other is set to be displayed at the memorial room in Monastir Military High School. TIKA’s Skopje coordinator Mahmut Cevik said the museum would cost 500,000 Euros. "The memorial house is going to be a touristic attraction center," he said.
