Azerbaijan and Turkey will produce more military weapons and equipment together starting next year as part of the two countries' growing cooperation in this sphere, Azeri news portal ANS Press reported on Wednesday. Citing military sources, ANS said that the two countries signed a memorandum last month to jointly produce some military equipment. Turkey together with Azerbaijan is also expected to establish an arms production company in Baku as part of Turkey's military cooperation with its neighbor, which remains technically at war with Armenia over Nagorno-Karabakh. The report says the memorandum has already been signed between the Azeri Defense Industry Ministry and Turkish company Otokar on the manufacture of armored units. Under the agreement, necessary military parts will be imported from Turkey for production.
