Speaking at Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul ahead of his flight to Mexico for the G-20 meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan said that he is hopeful for a permanent solution to be found for the EU's debt crisis. "Obviously, certain measures should be taken in many countries. Reforms should also be made. It is not impossible to rescue them. We are still hopeful. If proper policies are made and necessary steps are taken, a recovery process can begin. It may take years or even decades for certain countries to reduce their debt stock to reasonable levels," Babacan said. Speaking on the upcoming G20 meetings in Mexico, Babacan said assessments would be carried out with regard to global economy, policies would be reviewed to find out what should be done by countries to overcome global crisis, and energy and product prices would be discussed during the meetings.
