Babacan: We have kept our promises
Speaking at the 5th Izmir Economic Congress organized by the Ministry of Development, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan said that they have kept all the promises they made, and thus the confidence in Turkish economy has significantly risen. "We have set goals and achieved them. We were always sincere. We have signed dozens of visa exemption and free trade agreements, all on the basis of the ‘win-win' model. During the last 11 years, our nominal national income has increased threefold and nominal exports more than four times," Babacan said. Reiterating their goal to make Turkish economy among the top 10 economies in the world by 2023, Babacan said they have been making every effort to this end. Noting they will continue with the open economy and open democracy trend in the next term, Babacan concluded his remarks as follows: "Reducing the dependence on foreign sources especially in the energy sector is among our top priorities in our reforms to be made. The issues to be discussed during this Congress will also have an impact on our economic reforms."
