Speaking to reporters in the wake of a meeting organized by the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TURKAK), Turkey’s Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis evaluated the two-day official visit paid by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Germany. Stating that Erdogan’s visit was very important in the sense that he has shown Turkey’s determination in its EU membership bid, Bagis said that Turkey's membership was important for the EU as much as it was for Turkey and that the process was more significant than the result for Turkey. "In this process, Turkey is getting more and more democratic, prosper and transparent, and achieving a higher-level education, transportation, justice and health services. We have been trying to boost the life standards of our country," Bagis added.
