EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said Turkey is hopeful that during Ireland's presidency of the EU in the first half of next year, its bid to join the European Union would accelerate. Speaking to Irish Times during his Ireland visit last week, Bagis said that Turkey does not expect to become a full member during the Irish presidency but they are pragmatic and they will work very hard to reach the goal of putting Turkish-EU relations on a more reliable track.
