Bagis: "Turkey is coming to rescue Europe"
Turkey is coming to rescue Europe, said Turkey's Chief European Union Negotiator and State Minister Egemen Bagis yesterday, contrasting the economic crisis in Europe with Turkey's rapidly improving economy. Speaking at the Danish Institute for International Studies, amid a three-day visit to Denmark to explore possible areas of cooperation and tout Turkey's EU bid, Bagis underlined that the Turkish economy is very dynamic and that Europe needs to enlarge its market for European products and energy. He explained that Turkey, with its young population, is a good market for such products. He added that Turkey has several reasonable expectations from Europe: eliminating visa requirements for Turkish citizens, stronger cooperation against terrorism, a more constructive attitude towards solving the Cyprus problem, and Turkey's representation at European Council meetings.
