Bagis responds to a statement made by Anastasiadis

In response to Greek Cypriot administration leader Nikos Anastasiadis' statement that his father has been raised by Turks, Turkey's Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said that they have gladly noted the statement made by Anastasiadis, who has displayed a very brave and truehearted stance despite possible criticisms from the Greek Cypriot side. Speaking to the Milliyet daily, Bagis said that Cyprus issue had to be solved. "The anecdotes shared by Anastasiadis in this interview within this direction could be turned into an opportunity to open the door to create a solution to the Cyprus issue," Bagis noted, adding that he hopes his constructive statements are rapidly realized and turned into positive results for the future of Cyprus. Bagis also said that maintaining stability of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) was also important to make good use of new opportunities to be created for a solution.
