Turkish Minister for EU Affairs and chief negotiator Egemen Bagis stated that Turkey was ready to "reset" to solve the Cyprus issue. Recalling that newly elected Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades had voted "yes" to Kofi Annan’s peace plan referendum and courageously showed his support for a resolution of the Cyprus issue, Bagis said, "We hope his new title will support his previous reconciliatory attitude, rather than cast a shadow over it." Bagis added that both Turkey and the Turkish side have always acted with peace of mind and confidence which stem from its support for peace and stability in terms of the Cyprus issue.
