Pope Francis on Tuesday inaugurated his papacy with a Mass in front of hundreds of thousands of people in Rome, which was also attended by also included Istanbul-based Greek Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomew and Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag. It was the first time the spiritual head of Orthodox Christians attended a pope's inaugural Mass since the schism. Speaking at the inauguration Mass, the pope underlined the need for the protection of the environment and treating people with love and respect, adding that people must avoid signs of apocalypse, hatred, jealousy and pride. Afterwards, Pope Francis received the greetings of representatives from 132 countries, including Bozdag, and embraced Bartholomew.
