Brisitsh minister urges stronger trade ties with Turkey

A bright future awaits the Turkish economy, British Trade Minister Meryyn Davies said yesterday. Speaking at a press conference organized by the British Embassy in Ankara, Davies said that despite the adverse impact of the global financial crisis, Turkey's economy will prosper further. He underlined that his government places great emphasis on healthy trade ties with Turkey. Citing the countries' recent decision to establish a joint economy and trade committee, he said the move will significantly help improve mutual trade relations as well as offer entrepreneurs from both countries new horizons. "We offer foreign entrepreneurs vast opportunities and incentives," he said, adding that they expect more Turkish businessmen to enter the British market and its machinery and technology sector. Davies also underlined that Turkey and Britain could cooperate in the field of energy. He said they expect to concentrate on relatively more eco-friendly energy resources and could work with Turkish investors to this end. Saying that it is important to diversify mutual trade and undertake joint projects.
