Bursa which has taken a step to be covered by the UNESCO World Heritage List has applied to UNESCO with a file titled "Bursa and Cumalikizik: Rise of the Ottoman Empire." Bursa made a bid to be a candidate for the UNESCO World Heritage List since the Ottoman Empire has risen in its Orhan Gazi Kulliye and the village of Cumalikizik and neighborhoods. The Metropolitan Municipality of Bursa announced that it sent its application file to UNESCO. During a meeting held at the Culture and Tourism Ministry on the occasion of Bursa's application, some contents of the file were revised and certain documents and documentaries about Bursa were attached to that. The file is supposed to be sent on January 31, 2013 to the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) through which it will be conveyed to UNESCO. A statement made by the Metropolitan Municipality of Bursa said that an ICOMOS delegation would come to Bursa to visit the places indicated in the file.
