Turkish power cable makers are enjoying rising exports to developing African countries, which have nearly no electricity infrastructure. Denizli, an inner Aegean province where the sector is improving, has started selling cables to countries such as Tanzania, Liberia, Guinea and Ghana, according to an interview with Necdet Ozer, head of the Denizli trade chamber. "The exports to developing African regions, where there are no cables or electricity at all, are making Turkish businesspeople happy," he said. "The cable firm exports going to Africa boosted their foreign sale volumes 100 percent."  Some one third of the annual $3 billion exports from Denizli come from the copper and cable industry, said Ozer, who expects the business to grow even more. The sector is in an overall evolution across Turkey, Ozer said, adding that Turkish cables are used in 72 countries across the world. "We sell cables from America to Central Asia and Africa, but mainly to Iraq, Israel, Bulgaria, Romania and Italy."
