Caglayan holds contacts with Zeydan in Libya
Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan met with Prime Minister of Libya Ali Zeidan at his office on Wednesday. During the meeting, Turkish contractors' return to their unfinished projects in Libya after the civil war and the debts that Turkish businessmen couldn't receive during the civil war period were discussed. Speaking to reporters following the meeting, Zeidan said that his deputies would hold meetings with Caglayan and keep their promises. "We are currently facing very difficult times. We have to pay many debts both domestically and internationally. But our government attaches priority to the reconstruction of our country," Zeydan said. Stating that they would consider Turkish contractors within the same context, Zeidan said, "We consider Turkey as a promising partner. We would like Turkey to appreciate this very well, but we all need to be patient." For his part, Caglayan said that Turkey has been always in favor of unity in Libya. "We have discussed Turkish contractors' return to their unfinished projects and the debts that Turkish businessmen couldn't receive during the civil war period in Libya. We will try to reshape the issue with our meetings with Libyan ministers," Caglayan noted. Caglayan added that the visit to be paid by Zeidan to Turkey next week was very important, as prime ministers of the two countries would give very important messages about the future of Libya. Caglayan, who visited Libya along with 200 businesspeople and attended the Turkey-Libya Business Forum, wanted that a minimum of 50 percent of the debts that Turkish businessmen couldn't receive is paid.
