As part of his contacts aimed at creating partnerships in Turkey along with 16 American companies, US Assistant Secretary of Commerce Michael Camunez yesterday held a meeting with a group of reporters. Speaking at the meeting, Camunez said that his delegation consisted of officials from leading energy companies from the US who were willing to help Turkey achieve its energy production goals and meet its energy deficit and those companies would hold approximately 300 business meetings in Turkey. Camunez stated that Turkey was a promising and important market to the US, offering many business and investment opportunities in infrastructure, energy, transportation and automotive industries. "We are aware of the extraordinary opportunities offered by Turkey. Furthermore, Turkey is strategically and logistically important. It's in the heart of Europe, Africa and Asia and a reasonable alternative to make investments. Our companies are closely interested in Turkey," he said, adding that the US has chosen six strategic markets to make investments, namely, Colombia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and Turkey, namely, the only country chosen from Europe.
