Celik meets with Russian counterpart in Moscow

During his visit to the Russian capital of Moscow, Culture and Tourism Minister Omer Celik met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Medinskiy and Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism Alexander Radkov. Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, Celik said that he was very glad with the cooperation between Turkey and Russia about the tourism issue and Turkey was ready to provide all sorts of support to have knowledge of the Russian culture and develop the relations in tourism. "I consider tourism not only a field of economy, but also the foundation of humanitarian diplomacy. Accordingly, we take measures to ensure that Russian tourists could get better services and feel more comfortable in Turkey," Celik said. For his part, Radkov reiterated that 3,300,000 Russian people have visited Turkey last year. "Turkey has become a strategic partner to us in many issues, and tourism is one of these strategic fields. During our meetings, we discussed the ways of further improving these relations and partnership, attract the people's attention to here to provide them with information and implement common promotional programs. Most importantly, two ministers have underlined the issue of improving the cultural relations, saying that especially this door should be opened," Radkov said.
