Turkey's Central Bank Governor Erdem Basci said yesterday at a meeting held with economists in London that the recovery in current deficit would become evident in the last quarter of year. In reply to questions following the meeting, Basci said that Turkey's economy has expanded by 8.2 percent in the third quarter and foreign demands have contributed to the growth. In reply to a question how he considers the ongoing growth despite the cooling measures taken by the Central Bank, Basci said, "The measures have served the purpose. The tendency of excessively rapid borrowing is now on reasonable and desired levels."
