Chief EU Negotiator, Culture Ministery to tout Turkey's EU bid at home and in Europe

State Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU talks Egemen Bagis and Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay held a meeting in Istanbul over the weekend as part of Turkey's European Union communication strategy. Speaking to reporters afterwards, Bagis said that they had discussed how Turkey can be better promoted to European audiences, adding that they adopted a course of action to ensure that messages concerning Turkey's EU bid are stressed more often both in Turkey and EU countries. Stating that they had also discussed ways of making the EU and EU-related matters and concepts better known among the Turkish public, Bagis added that this process had already begun. To convince Turkey-skeptical publics in some key EU member countries, especially France and Germany, Turkey has boosted its promotion and public diplomacy efforts towards becoming a full member of the 27-nation bloc.
