Thanks to a series of reforms, Turkey has become Europe's sixth-largest economy with its fourth-largest work force, said State Minister and Chief Negotiator for European Union Talks Egemen Bagis yesterday. "Turkey is in the easternmost part of the West and the westernmost part of the East," Bagis said in London, speaking at a seminar on Turkey's rising role at Britain's House of Lords. Bagis also underlined the strength of Turkey's financial system, saying, "Turkey is no longer the sick man of Europe. A Turkey which is new, and dynamic, and will be a solution to Europe's problems, is here."
