Cyprus talks continue in New York
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Dervis Eroglu and Greek Cypriot administration leader Dimitris Christofias, joined by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, began two-day talks yesterday at the Greentree estate in Long Island, New York, which has previously also hosted the Western Sahara meetings. Ban Ki-moon discussed the disagreements concerning the Cyprus issue with two leaders in a four-hour meeting, telling them that they should find practical solution offers in two months and that obviously the good will mission undertaken by the UN wouldn't last forever. Following the talks, an assessment meeting was held and Eroglu made a written statement, saying that the TRNC has clearly put forth its opinions during the talks, which were quite useful. He added that it was decided to meet again in Geneva at the end of January.
