Speaking at a commemoration ceremony honoring the Turkish diplomats who have been killed on duty, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that Turkey has never left the Afghan nation alone and will never abandon it, while it is in trouble. Focusing on 12 Turkish soldiers who were killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan last week, Davutoglu said, "Those nations that don't care about the problems of other nations and those nations that do not look beyond their territories will not be able to secure their own lands." Davutoglu added that he wished mercy upon Turkish martyrs' soul for sacrificing their lives for brother nations extending from Myanmar to Bosnia and Bucharest to Korea. The ceremony which was held at Cebeci Asri Cemetery in Ankara was also attended by Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Feridun Sinirlioglu, former Foreign Minister Yasar Yakis and diplomats from 17 countries.
