Davutoglu conducts phone diplomacy with Kerry, Lavrov

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu held phone calls with US Secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on the evening of Aug. 26, focusing on the chemical attack claims in Syria. Kerry discussed with Davutoğlu possible further steps to be taken on the crisis. Davutoglu also had a phone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in which he welcomed Moscow's call for Syria to allow the United Nations weapons inspection team to reach Damascus. Davutoglu agreed to continue a strong dialogue with both Lavrov and Kerry in a bid to end the bloodshed in neighboring Syria. Reportedly, Davutoglu also contacted Indonesian Foreign Minister Raden Mohammad, and phoned President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to convey information about developments in Syria.
