Davutoglu holds press conference with Indian counterpart
During a press conference with his Indian counterpart Salman Khurshid at the Foreign Ministry on 24, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu stated that Turkey had to take certain measures to protect its border security, reminding that the death of a Turkish citizen in Turkish town of Ceylanpinar at Syrian border raised the public's sensitivity about the border security. "To take measure does not mean developing an attitude towards any group in Syria The developments in Syria and Iraq do not only affect the future of Kurds, but also Arabs and Turkmens," said Davutoglu. Stating that Turkey doesn't perceive any formation or any ethnic group as a threat, Davutoglu said that all parties in Syria should avoid taking unilateral steps until a Parliament that will represent the people's will is freely formed in the country. "Some steps, which may be taken in form of a fait accompli, will only lead to more bloodshed and turn a bilateral conflict into a multilateral one," Davutoglu said. Stating that it was the first visit by an Indian foreign minister in the last ten years, Davutoglu said that this was a historical visit. Davutoglu also announced that they agreed on an action plan for 2014-2015 for improving the bilateral ties between Turkey and India and that Turkey wanted to open a consulate general in Hyderabad. For his part, Khurshid said the two countries would work in cooperation in many fields in the upcoming period and that Indian President Pranab Kumar Mukherjee would visit Turkey in October.
