Speaking to Parliament's Foreign Relations Commission yesterday, his first such appearance since taking office in early May, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu spoke about how he will approach Turkey's foreign policy goals. Stating that Turkey won't do anything in relations with Armenia without considering Azerbaijan's national interests, Davutoglu said Turkey should follow a more active foreign policy across a vast region from central Asia to northern Africa. Stressing that all developments in this huge area concern Turkey, Davutoglu also spoke about ongoing efforts to improve relations with southern African countries. Touching on the importance of the work of the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) to this end, Davutoglu also pledged to expand TIKA's purview to cover the entire world as an assistance and promotion institution.
