The dark days of the 1990s, with its civil turmoil and ethnic clashes, are in the past, and now strong efforts and regional cooperation are necessary to heal these wounds, said Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu yesterday. Davutoglu made the remarks at the foreign ministers meeting of the Southeast European Cooperation Process (SEECP) in Budva, Montenegro, which is also hosting an SEECP summit through tomorrow. "Turkey's foreign policy places special importance on the Balkans and maintains its efforts to contribute to peace, stability and welfare in the region," said Davutoglu, stressing Turkey's strong support for the regional countries' goal of integrating with European and Euro-Atlantic institutions.
