Defence industry rapidly developing

Research and Development Office of the AK Party disclosed a report on developments in the Turkish defence industry. The report noted that the exports by the defence and aviation industry rose by five times during the last 10 years while the turnover increased by four times, reaching 1.2 and 5 billion US dollars, respectively. According to the report, the Turkish armed forces has become more self-relaint, meeting 54% of its procurement needs through domestic sources. Also highlighting the 2023 vision in this field, the report covered new projects to be completed during the next ten years such as a jet trainer for the air force, an intelligence satellite, fighter aircraft, landing ship, medium utility helicopter and TF 2000 Frigate.
