Dutch Patriots to be deployed at Incirlik
Dutch-controlled Patriot batteries will be deployed at Incirlik air base in the next two weeks to defend Turkey from the threat of missile attack from Syria. Patriot batteries will be loaded onto a ship at the port of Eemshaven for their two weeks voyage to Turkey. The Netherlands, Germany and the United States are each sending two Patriot missile batteries and up to 400 troops to Turkey after Ankara asked for NATO's help to bolster security along its border with Syria. The Dutch military team also left the Netherlands yesterday for the southern province of Adana in order to make preparations for the deployment of the systems. The team will survey and make required preparations for the deployment of the weapons, which are expected to reach Adana on Jan. 22.
