Seconding a German court ruling from last week, a Dutch court ruled on Monday that Turkish nationals are exempt from visa requirements during travel to the European Union member states for purposes of tourism. The Haarlem court ruled that Turkish nationals are exempt from visa requirements during travel for tourism purposes of up to three months, upholding an earlier European Court of Justice ruling on the controversial issue. The court said the visa requirement violates Article 41 of the Additional Protocol to the Association Agreement between Turkey and the European Economic Community. Citizens are also allowed to stay in the country for up to three months without having to apply for a residence permit.
