Turkey's economic successes caused by the decisions which have been taken since the global economic crises were appreciated by a European Parliament member. Graham Watson, a member of European Parliament and leader of European Liberals, congratulated Turkey for its economic success and added that this success should be enjoyed. Watson said, "I congratulate Mr. Erdogan for implementing the policies necessary for economic achievements. I also congratulate Turkish people for the economic success that you are enjoying now." Speaking at a program called ‘European Desk' which is prepared and presented by Selcuk Gultasli, Brussels representative of the Zaman daily, Watson answered a question whether he believes Turkish politicians are overconfident, saying, "No country which has gained such a success should be deprived of the chance of enjoying this success. This should be welcomed by everybody and I also welcome the growth of Turkey." Considering the Armenian bill that criminalizes the denial of Armenian "genocide," Watson said that France might regret that, adding, "First of all, it is not wise for a country to vote for a bill related to another country other than its domestic issues. It is not a good way to penalize the views related to an event which is difficult to be proven historically. We don't approve the option of penalizing these kinds of situations."
