Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has issued a circular on aid campaign launched for Syrian refugees. He stated that thousands of Syrian people fleeing their country due to recent events in Syria were facing security, hunger, epidemic and shelter problems. "We believe that the Turkish people, our national and local news media, civil society organizations, official institutions and trade chambers and unions will make any contribution to the campaign," Erdogan said in the circular. Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) said earlier yesterday that 147,107 Syrians were currently staying in Turkey after fleeing clashes in their country. According to AFAD Syrian refugees taking shelter in Turkey were provided with lodging, food, health services, security, education, religious services, translation services and communications.
