The current famine in Somalia and other African countries concerns all of humanity, but the West has been insensitive to this crisis, said Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan yesterday. "Unless this burden of conscience is removed from the world, how can one talk about civilization and global values?" asked Erdogan at a meeting of ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party provincial chairmen. "The world's insensitivity towards this open wound is unacceptable to us. We will bring up this issue at every opportunity. Our foreign minister, my family and I will visit Somali and see the region."
