On the sidelines of his official visit to Qatar, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday separately met with Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim al-Thani. Erdogan was accompanied by Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz in the meetings in which relations between Turkey and Qatar were reviewed and ways to further improve cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, energy and culture, the latest situation in Syria, Palestine-Israel issue and the development in Northern Africa. Erdogan also met with his Greek counterpart Antonis Samaras for an unexpected 40-minute meeting in Doha yesterday. Following his meeting with Samaras, Erdogan said that the Greek Parliament recently approved the construction of a mosque after a long campaign to that effect led by the local Muslim community. Erdogan added that they have reached a consensus that such steps would be taken with mutual good will and understanding.
